Zhunan experiences the west coast’s characteristic wind patterns, with persistent northeasterlies in winter and milder southwesterlies in summer. This consistent wind resource explains the offshore wind farms that dot the horizon in Zhunan and surrounding areas. Due to its sandy beaches, calmer waves, and accessibility, Zhunan is perfect for beginner surfers. With its reliable wind, it's ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing. And with its flat shoreline, low tide often attracts skimboarders.
The best time for surfers is early morning when the wind is light. As winds pick up mid-morning, conditions become more favorable for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Kitesurfers can score consistent 8–13 m/s northeasterly wind in winter and 6-9 m/s southwesterly sea breezes in summer. The wide open beach makes it kite friendly, but watch for shallow sections, debris after rain, and tide‑driven current.
Nearby surf shops offer surfboard and kitesurfing rentals, as well as lessons across all surfing disciplines. You’ll also find ample public facilities and parking, making Zhunan a very convenient surf destination.
