Zhu’an offers a unique surfing experience, characterized by its unpredictable waves. With exposure to a variety of swell directions, surfers can often find rideable waves, although conditions can be hit or miss. This long, open beach break features both lefts and rights, providing diverse options for different skill levels.
One notable aspect of Zhu’an is its susceptibility to wind from all directions, often resulting in onshore conditions that can negatively affect wave quality. For the best surfing experience, it’s advisable to target typhoon swells or northeast monsoon swells during the winter months, when the conditions are typically more favorable and consistent.
While there are no surf shops in the area and parking is limited, one of the highlights of surfing at Zhu’an is the opportunity to enjoy the waves in relative solitude, often without other surfers in the water. This makes it an ideal spot for those seeking a more peaceful and uncrowded surf session.
