Sheliao is located at the mouth of the Baoli River, in front of the iconic Guishan Bridge in Checheng, Pingtung County. This surf spot is the unique combination of a rivermouth and a left point break, and on a solid southwest swell can produce some of the longest lefts in all of Taiwan. Combine that swell with an east offshore wind and you will have a nicely groomed mechanical left that you can ride all the way up the west coast!
Being on the west coast, Sheliao is often flat and typically needs a good storm or typhoon for it to work. After storms, however, the runoff from the rivermouth is often filthy and can easily make you sick. On the flip side, it will most certainly be worth it if the left is pumping here, especially if you are goofy foot!
Parking is available under or next to the bridge, and it's just a short walk to the break.
