Located north of the heavily-populated Wushi Harbor, Gengfang is one of Yilan’s best left-handed point breaks. Unfortunately, the surfing area is limited, and is made more dangerous by rocks and a few concrete blocks located in the surf zone. As a result, it’s safer to surf mid- to high-tide.
The left at Gengfang can be epic on a northeast typhoon swell, and the pier does a good job of blocking the N/NE winds. Due to the limited surfing area and concrete blocks, this is not a safe spot for beginners.
