Environmental Park is a remote, hard-to-find surf spot near a large landfill just a few hundred feet from the ocean. Due to its tricky access into and out of the water, as well as its rocky bottom, it’s best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers.
Parking is limited along the road near the landfill, and you’ll need to walk a long bike path down to the base of a small cliff. The entry and exit are over slippery, barnacle-covered cobblestones - wear booties if you don’t want to get cut! The spot faces east-northeast and thus is usually blown out by the northeast monsoon during winter. The surf is better between Spring and Autumn, and best during early mornings with light winds. True offshore days are rare, and they might be accompanied by the unpleasant whiff of landfill garbage! Waves can get powerful here, with punchy walls over a shallow, rocky bottom. Wipeout safely and avoid surfing during extreme low tides. Do not surf here if you are a beginner - you’re better off heading to Beibin Park, which is just a 10-minute drive south.
