Duli in Taitung is a sandy beach break nestled between Chenggong to the north and Donghe to the south. Unlike many of Taitung’s reef breaks, Duli’s sand bottom makes it more approachable for beginners and progressing surfers. However, there are a few sizable boulders that surfers should be cautious of. As the seabed is mostly sand, peaks will regularly shift with sandbars and seasons.

The most consistent surf arrives from late autumn through spring on east to northeast swells. Summer waves are generally smaller and more beginner‑friendly, punctuated by occasional typhoon swells that can turn heavy and are best left to experienced surfers. Longboarders tend to favor mid to high tide for cleaner, longer walls, while shortboarders can score punchier, steeper faces on low to mid tide. Common hazards include rip currents, heavier shorebreak on bigger days, and submerged stones (particularly toward the northern end of the beach).

The vibe at Duli is welcoming, with local surf schools offering rentals, lessons, and transport, making it a great choice for beginners in Taitung. For nearby alternatives, Donghe and Jinzun to the south deliver consistent quality surf for intermediate and above, while Chenggong to the north features a much more challenging setup suitable for advanced surfers only.
