Nanwan is one of the most beautiful beaches in Taiwan, and is southern Taiwan’s most popular beach. Therefore, there can be many people, as well as jet skis, in the water. Nanwan has a left break (港仔) and a right break (獅仔頭). It’s a good spot for beginners when the waves are small. On bigger swells, especially summer typhoon swells, the wave here is shapely and can produce great barrels for experienced surfers. Nanwan is flat for most of the year, but during a south or southeast typhoon swell the surf can be epic.
