Jiqi offers two locations to surf, one near the Jiqi Beach Recreational Area and the other near the old site of Jiqi Elementary School. With more peaks at the latter spot, there are typically more opportunities to catch waves, both lefts and rights. However, being a long, unsheltered beach, strong winds can often affect wave quality, so it's wise to check conditions before heading out. The seabed consists mainly of cobblestones with some boulders, so it's best to kick out of the wave a bit early, as to avoid damaging your board and your body!
Accessing the surf spot off of Highway 11 can be tricky. Look for a sign labeled "磯崎社區發展協會," which indicates you're on the right road. Follow it towards the beach, where you'll find a decent amount of parking available near the surf spot. When you exit the water after your session, to the right is a small pavilion that has a water faucet where you can rinse. Please note that surf shops and board rentals are limited in this area.
