Daxi (a.k.a. “Honeymoon Bay”) is a half-moon-shaped bay that benefits from fairly consistent surf.
The northern and southern shores are rocky, and typically the southern break offers the best surf, a powerful right on a good SE swell.
There is a good amount of parking right along the beach. And with Daxi train station only a 10-minute walk from the beach, Daxi is one of the more accessible and crowded surf spots in the north, especially on weekends. However, there aren't a lot of surf shops here anymore, as most of them relocated to the Wushi Harbor area after the opening of the Hsuehshan Tunnel in 2006, making it faster and easier to travel to there.
