Shanshui, located on the island of Penghu, is mostly known for its windsurfing scene, as it is a particularly windy place. Since Penghu is located between Taiwan and China, the northeast monsoon winds during winter get squeezed between the two land masses forming a wind tunnel.
As a result of those winter winds, windsurfing is best during winter, surfing is better during summer. The beach is unspoiled, the water is crystal clear, and the locals are super friendly, making Shanshui a great destination regardless of the surf conditions.
