South of Wushi Harbor (South), and across from Xie Tian Temple, is a beach break that has a breakwater to the left side. There are small- to mid-sized rocks near the shore on the right side of the beach. NE monsoon winds create a quality wave in winter, when the breakwater kicks up a long clean left that Chou Shui is most famous for. Unlike Wushi Harbor and Double Lions, this spot offers limited peaks for catching waves, typically just one good peak near the tip of the breakwater. As a result, when waves are good, it can get a bit dangerous with numerous surfers vying for the same wave. To the right are some decent waves, but they tend to get soft and lose power moving into the middle of the break.
It’s easy to get out to the lineup, as you can sit behind the breakwater, then at the right time paddle around the rocks to get outside. When coming in, it’s recommended you stay to the left, as there are some rocks near the shore. With the temple nearby, make sure you park suitably to avoid getting in the way of temple activities, and please remember to respect the right of way of local residents.
